I do not understand how any professional or corporation could accept that license. All their work is licensed to Adobe for free and Adobe can then sublicense it to whoever they want for free? Wtf?

Hey Adam! I'm an art student, mainly I work in traditional, but I want to also learn digital art, what sort of tablet would you recommend as an entry point? I am interested in iPads since the ability to use on the go seems very good for being able to fit in drawing time during my day, especially when I'm out and about. but I am not opposed to tablets. What would your recommendations be for either of these, I highly enjoy your product reviews and advice, so I was looking for your updated opinion.

Yup, been there, done that! I have learned so much in the past 5 years than I did in all of my Junior and High School years just on RUclips.

Life mimics art. I began 3D art by myself, untrained outside of being a drafter using AutoCad in 2019. It took me 3 years to self train 0n Daz3D and spending over $10,000 to be a recognized 3D artist. Today I've posted nearly 4,000 pieces on two sites. Nature is so awe inspiring as a subject. I can't do an environment scene without being awed. Unfortunately so few of my followers appreciate those scenes. I love making scenes portraying mans future using governmental policies and my knowledge of science and history as my guide. For that I have been punished. Those people didn't see what I saw.

I dual boot an older Intel Mac and have an install of Mojave (32-bit).. This is how I still use my extortionately costly copy of CS3, which I bought when I was running Tiger on a MDD G4 PPC! (Thank god for Universal binaries!). I managed to keep the activated application from my first Intel MacPro install and use the installer as normal and just copy in the application, install the legacy Java for OS X, (no Adobe Activation required - which for CS3 is long gone anyhow} and it starts without a hitch. Still jamming on my 12 x 12 Intuos 1 Wacom from 1999.. (using the Connect My Tablet app) To be fair, I saw this shitshow arriving when the rumor of the subscription model dropped, so yaahh.. I have a programmer friend that is in California who subcontracted a project for Adobe in the mid 00's and he said I shouldn't feel guilty for not buying a new version, and in fact I shouldn't, and I would be better served to work out how to stick with the old version I have. Almost 17 years later, am still running CS3. Once I move to Apple Silicon, I'll probably install Snow Leopard in a VM, and run CS3 and if I can finagle out how to get my Alien Skin plug-ins running again, will be a totally happy camper.

I’m also a seasoned professional Adam, and I don’t disagree at all - I think this is BEAUTIFUL. I taught at an art school for years (Covid burned me out so badly I had to stop!) and I constantly was pushing students towards their heart. Their parents would demand they go into game art or graphic design or something “practical” - but you could see what excited them and where they poured their love. I had an assignment I gave my seniors the first day of their professional practices class: I would ask them to write their obituary. Believe me when I say it broke them! But it would help them focus on what they wanted to have done, and what they hoped to be remembered for. So many changed course. It’s the perfect advice. You have to balance it with surviving, so get comfortable with a day job for awhile that maybe isn’t in the arts while you build skills and connections. But if you’ve gone as far as being an artist in the first place, why stop short of the full dream?

Oh god, watching this brings back so many memories, and most of them BAD. The fact that it became a necessity to be employed but you had to pay so much up front is cruel and maddening. So yeah, I did the torrenting thing too. And then when I went to grad school and had an educational discount, I bought a full, legal version and I felt like I was finally “real”. That feeling cost $800 and lasted around 6 months, at which point they sent me an email saying they were NO LONGER SUPPORTING IT, but I could give them MORE money to not own it and pay them every month and I would never even get an update. I stayed as an adjunct professor at an art school for YEARS mostly to access Adobe, because the pay was crap of course. And of course, if you get stuck paying monthly for something you NEED (I needed to open a Lightroom catalog) they make it impossible to cancel and charge you half of the remainder - all so they can steal our work? Screw that - BYE Adobe, I won’t miss you - everything on my iPad is SO much better. Ya’ll are idiots.

Trust me guys, AI is just a product of this era where Capitalists will earn money, and they will do nothing but harm and joke !! Remember my comment, AI is forcefully placed in our life . The AI we wanted, they are not able to make it and may be some day . This is a bloodsucking machine to buy product of it has no value till now but that doesn't mean in future it won't have . So they are forcing us to learn it so there can be more machine learning, and they can suck the money what we spent on it in fear of missing out why you waste one credit for one useless image, in future one credit will be costly that's what we are paying to teach those machines , you can't help it because they have money but maybe we should be aware about good AIs .

So... there's so much wrong with this, its hard to know where to start. OK you seem to believe that copyright theft at the outset is OK but Adobe reclaiming some of that lost value by informing their AI using content that is created today by those who originally developed their own skills on stolen software is not OK? And the theft that led to the SaaS development by which newer content creators have prospered should now also not be reclaimed. I don't think Adobe has thought through their response effectively and creators complaining about this latest development don't seem to realise how disingenuous their complaints are. These are chickens coming home to roost for egotistical nutjobs like you and if you don't want to buy Photoshop then don't. For my part, in the mid 90's I stumped up the cash to buy Quark, Illustrator and Photoshop which should have given me a competitive advantage but clever thieves as new entrants, using stolen versions were able to beat me on price and so I couldn't compete, my cost base was too high and you are a good example of why so many studios had to close. It was also galling that Photoshop and Illustrator allowed those with poor draughting and illustrative skills like penmanship, actual painting, marker layout and airbrushing to compete on a level playing field with the skilled and AI is just the latest in this development. So well done Adobe for attempting to right an old wrong, even if its been poorly articulated. You may not want AI informed content but your competitors will and they won't need this dubious "craft" that you mention. You are not an artist, you are a commercial artist, an illustrator and do what you do for income and the client doesn't fucking care where the content comes from or how it was created or by what or whom, they just want it and they want it for as little cost as possible and this AI informed Adobe will be responsible for the next generation of winners.

Same thing is happening to Audio Daws it's like they want to suck you dry while they still can. Ai hype is over, all you need is cut paste pictures and layers. Plenty of developers with open source solutions will rid us of parasite corporations. Daws with under the table deals with other sample companies will be irrelevant when musicians sample their own instruments, owning 100 percent of their copyright. I'd run away from subscription services. They dont teach musicians to build synthmakers, to favor sample companies, and their copyright lawyers.

and... idk if this problem significant to anyone, Photoshop Hardware Requirement is pretty high, it is not good for people with limited budget
